Exclusive Online Training for the Vigilantes: The Fire Officer — Service Above Self
Join Deputy Chief Nick Papa of the New Britain Fire Department for a four-session online training series built specifically for the Vigilantes. Each session runs 90 minutes and is designed to be interactive, engaging, and thought-provoking. Sessions take place November 16, November 25, December 2, and December 16 at 8:00 p.m. EST.
Leading a unit is one of the greatest privileges in the fire service and one of its heaviest responsibilities. No other role has the same direct, lasting influence on individual firefighters. The fire officer’s ultimate task is preparing those under their charge for whatever the fireground presents and then taking them into the fight when the bell hits. That level of trust is earned in the firehouse and on the drillground. This program gives current and aspiring fire officers a practical roadmap for building high-performing units through relationships, consistent work, and deliberate leadership.
Nick Papa has served with New Britain since 2007 and is a second-generation firefighter who began volunteering in Newington in 2003. He was a technical panelist for the FSRI Coordinated Fire Attack study, is a Fire Engineering author, serves on the FDIC Advisory Board, and has been a classroom instructor since 2017.
All proceeds from this event will go toward purchasing a brick at the National Fallen Firefighters Memorial on behalf of the Vigilantes.
